The final British and American troops have withdrawn from Iraq, concluding a military presence of over a decade. Approximately 100 UK personnel left Irbil in the Kurdistan region, coordinated with the US departure. This withdrawal fulfills an agreement signed two years ago between the US and the Iraqi government. British and US forces were deployed in 2014 as part of an international coalition to combat the Islamic State (IS) group.
