Indian Stock Market Crashes Over 900 Points; Nifty50 Falls Below 22,900

Times of India · stocks

Indian equity benchmarks experienced a significant crash on Monday, with the Sensex plunging over 900 points and the Nifty50 falling below 22,900. This decline erased approximately Rs 4.68 lakh crore from the market capitalization of BSE-listed companies. Major private banking stocks, including Axis Bank and HDFC Bank, led the losses after their second-quarter results failed to meet market expectations. Continued foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows also weighed heavily on investor sentiment, contributing to the broad market sell-off.
