UPI Payments Up To Rs 2,000 Remain Free

Banks and payment providers cannot charge any direct or indirect fees on UPI transactions up to Rs 2,000. The Finance Ministry clarified this in a notification on September 14. This protection also extends to RuPay debit card payments. While payments above Rs 2,000 are not automatically charged, the government is creating a framework for potential future charges to sustain the growing UPI infrastructure. Consumers making UPI payments will not face transaction charges.

वित्त मंत्रालय ने 14 सितंबर को एक नोटिफिकेशन जारी कर साफ किया है कि 2,000 रुपये तक के UPI ट्रांजेक्शन पर बैंक या पेमेंट प्रोवाइडर कोई सीधा या छिपा हुआ चार्ज नहीं ले सकते। यह सुविधा RuPay डेबिट कार्ड पेमेंट पर भी लागू है। 2,000 रुपये से ऊपर के पेमेंट्स पर अभी कोई चार्ज नहीं है, लेकिन सरकार UPI के बढ़ते इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर को बनाए रखने के लिए भविष्य में संभावित चार्जेस का ढांचा तैयार कर रही है।
