Russia Bear Population Rises, Attacks Normal

Russia's brown bear population has surged from 182,000 to 308,000 over the last 15 years. Despite this increase, the number of bear attacks on people annually remains within the normal range of 20-30 incidents. The ministry noted that a spike in 2014 saw 166 cases. Recent incidents, including fatalities in the Siberian Federal District, have been amplified by social media, creating a perception of mass occurrences.

पिछले 15 सालों में रूस में भूरे भालुओं की आबादी 182,000 से बढ़कर 308,000 हो गई है। इतनी बढ़ोतरी के बावजूद, इंसानों पर भालुओं के हमले हर साल 20-30 की सामान्य सीमा में ही हैं। 2014 में ऐसे 166 मामले सामने आए थे। हाल की घटनाओं, जिनमें साइबेरियन फेडरल डिस्ट्रिक्ट में मौतें भी शामिल हैं, को सोशल मीडिया पर बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर दिखाया जा रहा है, जिससे ऐसा लग रहा है कि ये बहुत आम हो गई हैं।
