The Hindu · india

The Ernakulam district panchayat in Kerala is planning to accelerate its Animal Birth Control programme for stray dogs. A shortage of dog catchers has hampered the initiative, despite two operational centres capable of sterilising over 100 dogs monthly. The panchayat president stated that experienced catchers will be recruited and training has begun. A senior surgeon highlighted low pay for catchers as a retention challenge. Local councillors noted the ongoing issue of stray dogs and the need for effective sterilisation and waste management.
