The Hindu · india

An investigation in Vijayapura, Karnataka, has revealed that objectors used genuine death certificates to remove voters with similar names from electoral rolls. Eight individuals had complained that their names were sought for deletion by claiming they were deceased. The probe found that the death certificates were valid and issued by hospitals, but objectors obtained them through improper channels. These certificates were then attached to Form-7 objections, targeting voters with matching names and family details. The irregularities came to light when a government servant faced such an objection.
