Rajasthan's Chuki Birda has set a new National Under-20 pole vault record, clearing 3.91 meters at the National Junior Athletics Championships in Chennai. Her winning jump surpassed the previous record by one centimeter. Birda's athletic journey began unexpectedly during a punishment drill at her village school, where a teacher noticed her speed. Guided by her mentor, she transitioned from running events and kabaddi to pole vaulting, an individual discipline that allowed her to excel. Her parents have been supportive of her sporting ambitions.
