Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan revealed the significant costs incurred to defend against advanced AI agents like Anthropic's Mythos. The bank hired 1,000 external contractors, adding to 3,000 internal staff, to address cybersecurity threats posed by AI's ability to exploit software vulnerabilities. This defensive effort resulted in "a couple hundred million plus" in expenses during the third quarter alone. Moynihan stated these costs are temporary, expected to decrease once core vulnerabilities are patched, while the bank also pursues its own AI initiatives for efficiency.
