Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged global action against climate change, describing a devastating August flood as a "warning to the world." Addressing the UN General Assembly, he highlighted that the disaster, triggered by a glacial collapse, killed at least 1,453 people and left thousands missing. Shah emphasized that vulnerable nations like Nepal, contributing minimally to emissions, disproportionately suffer from climate impacts. He called for international support to adapt and proposed a regional mechanism for climate resilience involving Nepal, India, and China.
