Mexican Cartel Members Arrested in Murder of 10 Canadian Mining Workers

CBS News · world

Mexican authorities have arrested five men linked to the kidnapping and murder of 10 Mexican workers at a Canadian mining project in Sinaloa. The victims were abducted on January 23 and later found buried in clandestine graves. The suspects are reportedly part of a faction of the Sinaloa cartel, identified as working for the sons of jailed druglord 'El Chapo' Guzman. Mines in Mexico are frequently targeted by organized crime for extortion and ore sales, and abductions are common. This incident is rare as international companies are seldom targeted.
