India Halts New Gold Fund of Fund Inflows On Sebi's Verbal Order

Mutual fund houses have stopped fresh inflows into all gold fund of funds (FoFs) that invest in gold ETFs, following verbal instructions from markets regulator Sebi. This directive became effective on Friday, though existing gold ETFs will continue trading. Industry estimates suggest gold ETFs are valued at approximately Rs 1.7 lakh crore, with one-third of assets coming via the FoF route. While redemptions and existing systematic plans remain active, this temporary suspension is not expected to significantly impact overall gold demand in India.

बाजार नियामक सेबी के मौखिक निर्देशों के बाद म्यूचुअल फंड कंपनियों ने गोल्ड ईटीएफ में निवेश करने वाले सभी गोल्ड फंड ऑफ फंड (FoFs) में नया निवेश रोक दिया है। यह निर्देश शुक्रवार से प्रभावी हो गया है, हालांकि मौजूदा गोल्ड ईटीएफ का कारोबार जारी रहेगा। उद्योग के अनुमानों के अनुसार, गोल्ड ईटीएफ का मूल्य लगभग 1.7 लाख करोड़ रुपये है, जिसमें से एक तिहाई संपत्ति FoF के माध्यम से आई है। जबकि रिडेम्पशन और मौजूदा व्यवस्थित योजनाएं सक्रिय रहेंगी, इस अस्थायी निलंबन से भारत में सोने की समग्र मांग पर महत्वपूर्ण प्रभाव पड़ने की उम्मीद नहीं है।
