Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Modi government of paving the way for UPI transaction fees, alleging Prime Minister Narendra Modi is "compromised" and "surrendering" to American pressure. Gandhi stated that Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) can now be levied on merchant UPI transactions above ₹2,000, which constitute a significant portion of UPI's value. He argued that while customers may not be directly charged, shopkeepers will pass on costs, ultimately affecting consumers.

राहुल गांधी ने मोदी सरकार पर यूपीआई ट्रांज़ैक्शन फीस का रास्ता बनाने का आरोप लगाया है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी अमेरिकी दबाव के आगे झुक रहे हैं। गांधी के मुताबिक, अब ₹2,000 से ज़्यादा के मर्चेंट यूपीआई ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) लगाया जा सकता है। उन्होंने तर्क दिया कि भले ही ग्राहकों से सीधे पैसे न लिए जाएं, दुकानदार ये खर्च ग्राहकों पर ही डालेंगे।
