Times of India · entertainment
Bereaved families in South Korea are demanding the removal of footage from the 2022 Itaewon crowd crush, which killed 158 people, used in the opening scenes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The clips depict civilian casualties during a fictional North Korean invasion, causing distress to survivors and families. The game's publisher, Activision, acknowledged using real news footage to convey its fictional story but stated it had no intention of trivializing the tragedy. The Korean Game Users Association has also called for an apology and footage replacement.
