US President Donald Trump has reportedly rejected a seven-day ceasefire proposal from Iran aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal, put forward by Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, included releasing frozen Iranian assets and lifting oil sanctions. Iran stated that once US conditions were met, negotiations on a final deal would begin. However, unnamed US officials cited by The Wall Street Journal indicated Trump was skeptical of Iran's commitment. This rejection follows Trump's recent threats to "annihilate" Iran at the UN General Assembly.
