West Bengal is set to boost the export of four GI-tagged aromatic rice varieties: Gobindobhog, Tulaipanji, Kalonunia, and Radhunipagal. The state government plans to establish two large-scale rice processing hubs and expand cultivation of these special rice types. Efforts are also underway to enhance their nutritional value and lower their glycaemic index through genetic research. The initiative involves collaboration between the Centre and the state, with discussions held with major rice export companies to facilitate commercialisation and increase farmers' earnings.
