Unified Payments Interface (UPI) usage has remained steady in September, showing a slight increase compared to August, despite recent backlash over new merchant discount rate (MDR) norms. Daily UPI transactions averaged 802 million in September, a 1% rise from August's 792 million. The value of transactions also saw a modest increase. While daily volumes dipped mid-month, this pattern mirrors August's trend, likely due to user spending habits at the start and end of months. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) had announced MDR framework changes on September 15.
