Concerns over the vulnerability of GPS signals, especially during conflicts, are driving the development of alternative navigation systems. Research indicates that Russian satellites have caused widespread GPS disruptions across Europe since 2019, highlighting the potential for broader interference. While camera-based terrain tracking is limited, two promising backup methods are emerging. One uses quantum phenomena and Earth's magnetic field for navigation, while another taps into ambient radio waves. These technologies aim to provide reliable positioning when GNSS signals are compromised.
