Gig Workers' Union Demands Pension Coverage and Stronger Social Security

The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) has called for improved pension coverage and enhanced social security protections for gig workers. The union highlighted that the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority is working to expand pension access via the NPS e-Shramik model, which allows digital platforms to facilitate worker enrollment. TGPWU president Shaik Salauddin emphasized that pension access must be paired with fair earnings, transparent contributions, and affordable savings options. He also requested portability of pension accounts and multilingual awareness campaigns to ensure workers understand the scheme.

तेलंगाना गिग एंड प्लेटफॉर्म वर्कर्स यूनियन (TGPWU) ने गिग वर्कर्स के लिए बेहतर पेंशन कवरेज और सामाजिक सुरक्षा सुरक्षा बढ़ाने की मांग की है। यूनियन ने बताया कि पेंशन फंड रेगुलेटरी एंड डेवलपमेंट अथॉरिटी, NPS ई-श्रमिक मॉडल के ज़रिए पेंशन की पहुँच बढ़ाने पर काम कर रही है, जिससे डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म वर्कर्स को नामांकित करने में मदद कर सकते हैं। TGPWU के अध्यक्ष शैख़ सलाउद्दीन ने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि पेंशन की पहुँच के साथ-साथ उचित कमाई, पारदर्शी योगदान और किफ़ायती बचत के विकल्प भी होने चाहिए। उन्होंने पेंशन खातों की पोर्टेबिलिटी और बहुभाषी जागरूकता अभियानों की भी मांग की ताकि वर्कर्स स्कीम को समझ सकें।
