Kolkata police are searching for the individual who allegedly spread a false rumour about a pandal collapse, triggering a stampede that killed 19 people. Investigators have found no evidence to support the claim that the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal was structurally unsound. CCTV footage is being analysed to reconstruct the events, which appear to have been exacerbated by rain and congestion at the exit. Seven organisers have been arrested in connection with the incident.
