Air Quality Panel Intensifies Drive To Curb Stubble Burning In Punjab

A high-level team from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) visited Tarn Taran and Amritsar, identified as paddy-burning hotspots, to curb stubble burning. The team, led by technical member S D Attri, reviewed preparedness with district officials and emphasized facilitating access to crop residue management machines for farmers. Efforts include strengthening field surveillance, awareness campaigns, and enforcement measures. Amritsar has established a supply chain linking farmers to industries using paddy straw, alongside a control room and helpline for machinery access and incident reporting.
