विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने कहा कि एक संपन्न व्यापार समझौता भारत-अमेरिका द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को बढ़ाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि बातचीत में तेजी से प्रगति की उम्मीदें जटिल जमीनी वास्तविकताओं, विशेष रूप से भारत के छोटे उत्पादकों और कृषि किसानों के बड़े आधार को लेकर चुनौतीपूर्ण थीं। जयशंकर ने उल्लेख किया कि व्यापार समझौते पर एक समझ काफी हद तक मौजूद है, लेकिन अमेरिका के सेक्शन 301 टैरिफ जांच जैसी चल रही प्रक्रियाएं जटिलताएं पैदा करती हैं। अंतिम रूप अब इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि ये विकसित हो रहे अमेरिकी टैरिफ उपाय उन्नत समझौते को कैसे प्रभावित करते हैं।
