Teenager Completes PhD, Now Researches Human Ageing

Belgian researcher Laurent Simons, now 16, has completed his first PhD in theoretical quantum physics at the University of Antwerp in November 2025, at the age of 15. Simons began his academic journey exceptionally early, absorbing material rapidly and starting primary school at two. He is now pursuing a second doctorate in medical science and artificial intelligence, focusing on ageing and life extension. His earlier work included brain-on-a-chip research and a bachelor's degree at 11.
