India's smartphone shipments saw a significant 26% year-on-year decline in the third quarter of 2023, reaching their lowest point since 2016. A total of 3.58 crore smartphones were shipped during this period, despite the festive season. Rising prices and limited budget options impacted sales, particularly for Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Oppo. Samsung emerged as the market leader with 67 lakh units shipped, experiencing only a 1% drop. Apple also saw a 20% decrease in shipments but remained in the top five.
