Hindustan Times · technology
A Bengaluru-based company, eMudhra Ltd, generated weak security keys for eight certificates, compromising global web security. The keys were so poorly made that they could have been deciphered in seconds, potentially allowing attackers to issue fake digital identity cards for any website. Major browsers like Google, Mozilla, Apple, and Microsoft have blocked these certificates. The Indian government has launched a special investigation team to probe the incident, while experts warn of a difficult and extensive clean-up process.
