Kerala HC Seeks Caste Survey Details From Govt

The Kerala High Court has directed the state government to submit an affidavit detailing the steps taken towards conducting a socio-economic caste survey. This order came during a contempt case alleging non-compliance with a previous directive concerning backward class representation and the survey. The court specifically asked the backward classes development department secretary to file the affidavit within four weeks. The bench also considered a Telangana government order for a similar survey to plan amelioration efforts for weaker sections.
