Deleted voters can't use Form 6, claims ex-CEC; EC cites rules

Former Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi stated that deleted voters cannot use Form 6, as it is exclusively for new voters. He further claimed that those forced to use it and officials abetting this action have committed a criminal offense. However, Election Commission officials countered this, pointing to Rule 13(1) of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. They clarified that Form 6 is indeed the prescribed method for claims of inclusion in the electoral roll, a process upheld by the Supreme Court.

पूर्व मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त एस वाई कुरैशी ने कहा कि हटाए गए मतदाता फॉर्म 6 का उपयोग नहीं कर सकते, क्योंकि यह केवल नए मतदाताओं के लिए है। उन्होंने आगे दावा किया कि जो लोग इसे इस्तेमाल करने के लिए मजबूर हुए और इसमें सहयोग करने वाले अधिकारी एक आपराधिक अपराध के दोषी हैं। हालांकि, चुनाव आयोग के अधिकारियों ने इसका खंडन करते हुए कहा कि मतदाता पंजीकरण नियम, 1960 के नियम 13(1) का हवाला दिया। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि फॉर्म 6 वास्तव में मतदाता सूची में नाम शामिल करने के दावों के लिए निर्धारित तरीका है, एक ऐसी प्रक्रिया जिसे Supreme Court ने भी बरकरार रखा है।
