Teacher Denied Gratuity For Working Past Retirement Age Wins Case
Times of India · education
A retired teacher who continued working until age 62, instead of the standard 60, was denied gratuity by her educational institution. She challenged this decision, arguing that extended service should not disqualify her from receiving her dues. The Allahabad High Court ruled in her favor, directing the institution to pay the gratuity with 6% interest. The court noted that she had been allowed to continue working and receive other benefits, making the denial of gratuity unjustified based on subsequent legal interpretations.
