Nigeria Confirms First Ebola Case of DR Congo Strain

Nigeria has confirmed its first case of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, linked to an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The patient is a woman who travelled from Uganda to Abuja on October 3. Health officials confirmed the positive result on Tuesday after testing her on October 19. The World Health Organization has also confirmed the strain, for which there is no vaccine or specific treatment. The woman, identified as a diplomat, is in isolation and receiving treatment, though her condition has reportedly deteriorated.
