Russia has dismissed media reports alleging a second suspected case of pneumonic plague in Siberia as false information. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that official information should come from Russia's health watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor. The World Health Organization has urged Moscow to formally respond to its inquiries regarding the reports, including a second employee with pneumonia at the Irkutsk institute. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers the risk to the United States to be extremely low, but is monitoring travellers from the region.

(US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
