Jamia Students Demand Restoration of Students' Union

Hindustan Times · education

Hundreds of Jamia Millia Islamia students gathered for a general body meeting to demand the restoration of the students' union, which was dissolved in 2006. The United Students of Jamia organised the meeting to support an ongoing hunger strike and sit-in protest, urging the administration to announce student election dates. The university has formed a committee to draft the Jamia Millia Islamia Students' Union constitution and review disciplinary actions against protesters. However, students have not agreed to proposed resolutions, and campus normalcy remains elusive.
