LPU Campus Violence: FIRs Filed, 9 Arrested Amidst Rape Rumour Outbreak

LPU campus erupted in violence, highway blockades, and arson following a viral social media message alleging a student's rape. Police investigations revealed the rumour as the root cause, leading to widespread student unrest. In response, authorities registered two FIRs and arrested nine individuals, including seven LPU students and two outsiders from Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir. Social media influencer Mohammad Farhat has also been named in connection with the violence. Police denied initial lathi-charge claims, stating force was used only after vehicles were set ablaze.

एक छात्र के बलात्कार के आरोप वाली वायरल सोशल मीडिया पोस्ट के बाद LPU कैंपस में हिंसा, हाईवे जाम और आगजनी हुई। पुलिस जांच में अफवाह को अशांति का मुख्य कारण पाया गया। इसके चलते, अधिकारियों ने दो FIR दर्ज कीं और मुंबई व जम्मू-कश्मीर के दो बाहरी लोगों सहित नौ लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया। सोशल मीडिया इन्फ्लुएंसर मोहम्मद फरहत का नाम भी हिंसा के संबंध में सामने आया है। पुलिस ने लाठीचार्ज के शुरुआती दावों को खारिज किया और कहा कि आगजनी के बाद ही बल का प्रयोग किया गया।
