The Namakkal municipal corporation has established two Miyawaki mini forests in Thummangurichi, planting a total of 14,000 saplings. This initiative aims to enhance the urban green cover and promote ecological conservation as part of the 'Green Namakkal, Clean Namakkal, Prosperous Namakkal' program. The forests utilize the Miyawaki technique for dense growth in urban areas, featuring a four-tier planting model including shrubs, sub-trees, main trees, and canopy species. These mini forests are expected to improve air quality, reduce temperatures, increase rainwater absorption, support biodiversity, and conserve soil.
