Intense clashes erupted in Baidoa, Somalia, on Monday between government forces and fighters loyal to the ousted regional president. Fighter jets and drones were reportedly used as hostilities flared after thousands of local fighters entered the city. Senior army commander Mohamed Ali stated the national army inflicted heavy casualties and drove out the local fighters, who allegedly possessed explosive vehicles and drones. The violence has had devastating consequences for civilians, with Doctors Without Borders reporting three deaths, including a healthcare worker, and 69 patients treated at Bay Regional Hospital.
