Bengaluru Traffic Linked To Digestive Health Issues, Say Doctors

Times of India · health

Bengaluru's notorious traffic is not only impacting commuters' mental well-being but also their physical health, according to city gastroenterologists. Long commutes and associated lifestyle changes are triggering digestive problems and worsening existing gastrointestinal conditions. Habits like skipping meals, postponing bowel movements due to delays, inadequate water intake, and prolonged sitting contribute to issues such as constipation, bloating, and indigestion. Doctors also note that the chronic stress from traffic jams can negatively affect the gut-brain axis, potentially leading to altered bowel habits and other gut problems.
