Nine Arrested for Illegally Cultivating Ganja on 30 Acres

Police in Kandhamal district, Odisha, have arrested nine individuals for illegally cultivating cannabis across approximately 30 acres of forest land. The arrests were made in the Luising area under Gochhapada police station limits following a tip-off. Authorities are actively searching for other individuals involved in the illicit operation. This incident follows a similar bust, where three people were arrested and 30 acres of ganja plantation destroyed. The district has seen significant efforts to curb illegal cultivation, with nearly 19,000 hectares destroyed in 2025-26 and substantial seizures made.

ओडिशा के कंधमाल जिले में पुलिस ने जंगल की करीब 30 एकड़ जमीन पर अवैध रूप से गांजा उगाने के आरोप में नौ लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है। गोछपाड़ा पुलिस स्टेशन के लुइसिंग इलाके में सूचना मिलने के बाद यह गिरफ्तारी हुई। अधिकारी इस अवैध धंधे में शामिल अन्य लोगों की तलाश कर रहे हैं। यह घटना इसी तरह की एक और कार्रवाई के बाद हुई है, जिसमें तीन लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया था और 30 एकड़ गांजा की खेती नष्ट कर दी गई थी। जिले में अवैध खेती को रोकने के लिए बड़े पैमाने पर प्रयास किए गए हैं, जिसमें 2025-26 में लगभग 19,000 हेक्टेयर नष्ट किए गए और भारी मात्रा में गांजा जब्त किया गया।
