US prosecutors have argued that former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is not entitled to immunity from criminal charges, countering his attempt to dismiss the narco-terrorism case against him. Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are accused of cocaine importation conspiracy and narco-terrorism. Prosecutors stated they are former officials of a rogue state and not entitled to immunity. The US government also cited President Trump's decision to withdraw recognition of Maduro as Venezuela's head of state in 2019.
