East Bengal has been eliminated from the Sikkim Gold Cup quarterfinals for another year, losing 1-2 to local club Sikkim Aakraman. The team fielded its reserve side in the match held in Gangtok on October 11. This marks an early exit for East Bengal in the 42nd edition of the tournament. Fellow Indian Super League team NorthEast United also suffered a quarterfinal defeat, fielding their reserve squad against Singling FC. Gokulam Kerala and Shillong Lajong are among the other teams advancing.
