The Punjab and Haryana High Court has quashed an order by the Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police directing Meta to block the Facebook page of 'Haryana 24 News Network Private Limited'. The court deemed the police action arbitrary and a violation of statutory procedures under the IT Rules, 2021. The SP's order lacked proper authorization and failed to provide the news outlet with notice or an opportunity to be heard. The court directed Meta to immediately restore the verified Facebook page, which had been blocked.

पंजाब और हरियाणा हाईकोर्ट ने यमुनानगर के पुलिस अधीक्षक (एसपी) के उस आदेश को रद्द कर दिया है जिसमें उन्होंने Meta को 'हरियाणा 24 न्यूज नेटवर्क प्राइवेट लिमिटेड' के फेसबुक पेज को ब्लॉक करने का निर्देश दिया था। कोर्ट ने पुलिस की कार्रवाई को मनमाना और IT रूल्स, 2021 के तहत वैधानिक प्रक्रियाओं का उल्लंघन माना। एसपी के आदेश में उचित प्राधिकार की कमी थी और उन्होंने न्यूज आउटलेट को नोटिस या सुनवाई का मौका नहीं दिया था। कोर्ट ने Meta को तुरंत सत्यापित फेसबुक पेज को बहाल करने का निर्देश दिया, जिसे ब्लॉक कर दिया गया था।
