Indian Railways to Allow Online Lower Birth Booking For Pregnant Women

Indian Railways has decided to allow pregnant women to book lower berths online, a facility previously unavailable. Previously, they had to visit reservation counters and provide a doctor's certificate. The Railway Board has approved this change, directing CRIS and IRCTC to update their systems. While the online option is pending technical modifications, the requirement for a doctor's certificate at the time of booking has been removed. Passengers may still be asked to show proof of eligibility during travel.
