TRAI Recommends New Authorisation For Satellite Communication Networks
Times of India - Business · business
India has moved closer to enabling satellite communication services with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommending a new authorisation category: 'satellite communication network (SCN)'. This authorisation, valid for up to 20 years with renewal options, will allow entities to provide satellite network as a service (SCNaaS) to eligible telecom providers. Companies like Eutelsat OneWeb, Reliance Jio, and Starlink are poised to benefit from this development. The recommendations also cover the assignment of spectrum for fixed and mobile satellite services, including direct-to-device capabilities.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)
