72 Lakh Teachers Trained To Identify Students With Disabilities Using New Tool

The Hindu · india

The Ministry of Education has trained 72 lakh teachers across 60,000 schools nationwide to identify children with probable disabilities. This initiative utilizes PRASHAST, a school-based digital screening tool designed to detect 21 disability conditions listed under the RPwD Act, 2016. The tool features a two-part checklist for teachers to screen observable indicators and for special educators to validate cases. Early detection of hidden disabilities like autism and learning difficulties is a key benefit, promoting inclusive education and preventing mislabeling of students.
