This revised amount, effective from October 1, 2026, was announced following renewed protests by medical interns who alleged the government failed to meet its assurance for a timely hike. The increase, representing over a 100% rise, aims to provide better financial support amidst rising living costs. The decision addresses a long-standing demand from interns undertaking crucial patient care duties.

जम्मू और कश्मीर सरकार ने एमबीबीएस और बीडीएस इंटर्न, जिनमें फॉरेन मेडिकल ग्रेजुएट्स भी शामिल हैं, के मासिक स्टाइपेंड को ₹12,300 से दोगुना करके ₹25,000 कर दिया है। यह संशोधित राशि, जो 1 अक्टूबर 2026 से प्रभावी होगी, मेडिकल इंटर्न द्वारा नए सिरे से किए गए विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बाद घोषित की गई है। इंटर्न ने आरोप लगाया था कि सरकार समय पर बढ़ोतरी के अपने वादे को पूरा करने में विफल रही। 100% से अधिक की वृद्धि का उद्देश्य बढ़ती जीवन लागत के बीच बेहतर वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करना है। यह निर्णय इंटर्न की लंबे समय से चली आ रही मांग को पूरा करता है जो महत्वपूर्ण रोगी देखभाल का काम करते हैं।
