Buxa Tigress Moves to Assam's Raimona National Park, Joint Teams Monitor
Times of India · environment
A tigress recently released in West Bengal's Buxa Tiger Reserve has been spotted in Assam's Raimona National Park, crossing the Sankosh river. The three-year-old tigress, BTR-TF1, killed a domestic pig in Rajendrapur village on Sunday night. Forest department teams from both states are monitoring its movements, with tranquilisation considered if it approaches human habitation. This movement is part of a broader tiger augmentation program aiming to rewild the landscape across northern Bengal and adjoining Assam.
