The Indian Coast Guard successfully rescued a foreign-flagged tanker carrying 23 crew members and 9,000 tonnes of palm oil off the Odisha coast. The Belize-flagged MT Seagull 9 sent out a distress call on Sunday morning after its main engine failed and ballast tanks began flooding, causing the vessel to tilt dangerously. The Coast Guard launched a swift operation, with concurrent cargo transfer and de-flooding efforts preventing the tanker from capsizing. This averted a potential major disaster at sea.
