Meta to Produce Custom AI Chip in September

Meta is set to begin production of its custom AI chip, codenamed 'Iris', in September. This chip is part of the company's four-generation MTIA project, designed in-house to enhance the AI powering its social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. By developing its own silicon, Meta aims to significantly boost its computing capacity and improve AI performance, reducing reliance on external chip manufacturers.
