Karnataka Teachers Seek Cluster Kitchens For Midday Meal Scheme

The Hindu · india

The Karnataka State Primary Teachers’ Association has proposed establishing cluster-level kitchens to prepare and supply midday meals to government schools. This initiative aims to relieve teachers of the administrative burden associated with the midday meal program, allowing them to concentrate more on teaching. Currently, two to three teachers in each school are often assigned these duties, impacting academic activities. The association cited existing successful cluster kitchen models operated by NGOs like ISKCON’s Akshaya Patra. They suggest allocating these centers to associations or self-help groups for efficient meal preparation and distribution.
