केरलम के स्थानीय निकाय उपचुनाव में 38 वार्डों में से कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व वाली यूडीएफ सरकार को झटका लगा है, उसने सात वार्ड विपक्षी एलडीएफ से हार दिए हैं। एलडीएफ ने 18 सीटें जीतीं जबकि यूडीएफ ने 19 सीटें जीतीं। खास बात यह है कि एलडीएफ ने यूडीएफ विधायकों के पास रहे दो वार्डों पर कब्जा कर लिया। 29 सितंबर 2026 को घोषित नतीजों में स्थानीय राजनीतिक समीकरणों में बदलाव दिखा। एक वार्ड का नतीजा टाई होने के बाद पर्ची निकालकर तय किया गया। इस नतीजे के बाद यूडीएफ के भीतर आलोचना हुई है, कुछ ने हार का कारण स्थानीय घटनाओं को बताया है।
