Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro Pleads Not Guilty To Torture Indictment

Venezuelan former President Nicolas Maduro appeared in a New York court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to newly unsealed torture allegations. He and his wife, Cilia Flores, are accused of leading a state-sponsored repression campaign that tortured victims, including three Americans, during his presidency from 2013 to 2026. Maduro called the charges "false accusations." The couple, currently in US custody, also faces drug-trafficking charges.

वेनेजुएला के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति निकोलस मादुरो गुरुवार को न्यूयॉर्क की एक अदालत में पेश हुए और यातना के नए आरोपों में खुद को निर्दोष बताया। उन पर और उनकी पत्नी सिलिया फ्लोरेस पर राष्ट्रपति पद के दौरान 2013 से 2026 तक पीड़ितों, जिनमें तीन अमेरिकी भी शामिल थे, को यातना देने के लिए राज्य-प्रायोजित दमन अभियान का नेतृत्व करने का आरोप है। मादुरो ने आरोपों को "झूठा“ बताया। वर्तमान में अमेरिकी हिरासत में मौजूद इस जोड़े पर नशीली दवाओं की तस्करी के आरोप भी हैं।
