JNPA Secures $70 Million IFC Financing For Cleaner

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has secured US$70 million in blue financing from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to implement shore power for vessels. This project, costing an estimated ₹650 crore, will enable ships to switch off diesel generators and draw electricity from land while berthed. It is expected to significantly cut carbon emissions by 63% and reduce air pollution by up to 90%. This initiative marks India's first blue-financing framework for the maritime sector and aims to become a model for other Indian ports.

जवाहरलाल नेहरू पोर्ट अथॉरिटी (जेएनपीए) ने जहाजों के लिए शोर पावर लागू करने के लिए इंटरनेशनल फाइनेंस कॉर्पोरेशन (आईएफसी) से 70 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर का ब्लू फाइनेंसिंग हासिल किया है। इस प्रोजेक्ट की अनुमानित लागत ₹650 करोड़ है, जिससे जहाज डीजल जनरेटर बंद कर सकेंगे और डॉक पर रहते हुए जमीन से बिजली ले सकेंगे। इससे कार्बन उत्सर्जन में 63% की भारी कमी और वायु प्रदूषण में 90% तक की कमी आने की उम्मीद है। यह पहल समुद्री क्षेत्र के लिए भारत के पहले ब्लू-फाइनेंसिंग फ्रेमवर्क को चिह्नित करती है और इसका उद्देश्य अन्य भारतीय बंदरगाहों के लिए एक मॉडल बनना है।
