Six-time Ligue 1 champion Bordeaux will play in the sixth tier of French football after being sanctioned for financial irregularities. The club failed to provide approximately 10 million euros for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 financial years and meet debt payments. Bordeaux was recently sold for a symbolic one euro to US-based Park Bench, who agreed to take on the remaining debt. The new owners aim to rebuild the club, which lost its professional status and academy in 2024.
